Bhaktapur - 5 Oct 2019

Early this morning I heard the sounds of horns and cymbals clanging. Tried to ignore it, but finally gave up and got dressed, grabbed a camera and headed down the stairs. The reception area was dark, saw a body sleeping and couldn't find the way out. Just as I was about to return to my room, someone stirred and let me out into the street. By now the sun was coming up pretty well and the street was coming alive with people on foot and on scooters.

Trash had been piled up in one location and the garbage truck, I presume, came and some men with shovels loaded the stuff into the truck and sprinkled some lime on the spot where the trash had been.

Then I stumbled onto this sign welcoming people to Bhaktapur.

Itis the holy festival of Dashain so lots of folks were about making offerings at various Hindu religious sites.
Wandering back to the hotel I had breakfast and then up to shower. Ran the hot water for a bit but it eventually got pretty warm. I discovered the source of the hot water on the roof.

Nathan arrived in the afternoon and the entire group, about 12 all together, went to dinner. Started with drinks at the roof top bar of a local hotel. I had a Gorka beer. Then down stairs for dinner. Started with a spinach soup and then Chicken Thali. Delich!
